Maybe it’s the price point or exclusivity, but these are always good beers imo. This one doesn’t disappoint. Great flavor without that overpowering sweetness that lesser bourbon barrel aged beers develop.

Bourbon County Stout is aged in used Bourbon Barrels, we all know that. But did you know that the story of Bourbon County Stout all started with a Bourbon and Cigar dinner some twenty odd years ago? Our Brewmaster at the time, Greg Hall, sat next to Master Distiller Booker Noe and started talking barrels. By the end of the dinner the two had struck an agreement that a beer aged in bourbon barrels would be a worthy experiment. A few days later, Booker sent Greg four bourbon barrels for Goose Island's 1000th batch of beer and the rest is beer history. To celebrate that storied meeting, both our current brewmaster Jared Jankoski and Greg Hall traveled out to Clermont, Kentucky to meet about the upcoming collaboration between Goose Island and Booker's pet project, @KnobCreek. Aged in 11-year-old Knob Creek® Bourbon barrels, the Small Batch Bourbon created by Booker himself in 1992, Bourbon County Brand Reserve Stout is simultaneously a celebration of Knob Creek’s 25th Anniversary and a toast to the chance encounter that brought Bourbon County Stout to the world.

Here it is. Our collab with @coophotsauce. Mike (aka the Sauce Boss) and his crew have crafted a hot sauce made with fermented serrano peppers, watermelon, salt, and vinegar. Oh, and a whole heck of a lot of Bourbon County Northwoods Stout was added to the mix. This delicious sauce will be available in limited quantities on 11/4 at the Co-Op store, 6338 N. Clark from 9am-5pm. Limit two.
Tasting Notes from the Sauce Boss himself: Biting medium green heat with juicy caramel notes from the boozy Backwoods blueberries and the piloncillo sugar. #BourbonCountyStout
