a good friend surfed MD Chute for the first time yesterday. smiling ear to ear after her first catch she remarked how fun of a wave it is. it’s true. it’s not the biggest and can be more hole than wave at times. but it’s one of my favorites. and it’s level range means we get to enjoy it a lot! @badfishsup#riversurf#mdchute#potomacriver#gratefulforwhatihave
Just registered for the 2018 @gopro@mountaingamesvail SUP CROSS + SUP SPRINT! Stoked to represent team @badfishsup, @wernerpaddles, @astralfootwear, and @gformwomen this year!
This event is bitter sweet for me. Every year I make myself completely sick days and even hours leading up before the race. I overthink my races, analyze everything, and start to second guess why I’m there. I tell myself things like, “you’re not ready for this”, or “why are you here, you haven’t put in the time or training”!! Ugh, it’s those negative thoughts that can really start to degrade an athlete fast. I’ll try and counter it by listening to pre race meditations and mindful breath work, but those negative thoughts start to filter back in the moment I come back to reality.
This is why I hired a coach. Someone who will help me work hard, push me physically, and help me transition through these negative thought processes. I realize these thoughts may never really leave my brain, but it’s being prepared which turns into more confidence and motivation for the event that I yearn for. The information I learn will not only help me as an athlete, but as a human as well in my work + home life.
This year, if I could give any advice to you all, it would be hire a mentor in some aspect of your life. Lower your ego and learn from the masters of their field. Challenge yourself by certifying in a new skill, learning a musical instrument, or even studying for a new trade.
Change is heathy and you never know what that new path has in store for you. ❤️😉👉

Stick to a plan. Stay accountable. Track the macros. 🤔 All very new things for me.
I NEVER post these kinds of photos, but 2018 is about getting out of my comfort zone and scaling to new heights. It’s off season here in Moab, and the last thing I’ve thought about is training. I’ve been working 60+ hours/week, paying off debt, studying, journaling, meditating, hiding out and working on my mobility.
So, how do I reach these new goals? Well, I know I can’t do it alone. Soooooo, I hired a coach folks. I haven’t had one since playing college Rugby back in the day and really miss that type of connection. I’m a person that needs someone to push me and keep me accountable daily.
I’ve recognized that at this point in my life, I may not have that much time to be at my peak in the sport of Whitewater Sup. So, I’m doing it right this year. Investing in my body, my career, and my goals. It’s more than just SUP, it’s overall fitness, mobility, and mindset.
I found Coach Cody ( @cody.boomboom ) through @kaisafit instagram. If there’s one woman on Instagram that really gets me motivated, it’s her. She’s a badass with a very balanced approach to training and challenges her body daily. Together they’ve created movements/exercises I couldn’t even imagine. So I hired him to take me to the next level. I’ll be documenting my real time progress here on insta and blogging about it more in depth over on my website.
Let me know if you have any questions/comments along the way. Huge shoutout to you all for giving me a follow here on insta and supporting me along the way. This should be a fun journey!! Lesssss goooo! 💥👊🏻💥 @badfishsup#badfishsup#fitness
The Whitefish clinic is a wrap. What a weekend!! It is so amazing to see the difference in ability from beginning of Day 1 to Day 2. Whitefish has so much to offer for river stand up paddlers with a community that is full of life. We will absolutely be back!
A HUGE thank you to Sonny and Kim with @paddlefishsports for having the impact you do on the paddling community here and for being a huge part in the success of our clinic. We love you guys! And thank you to @greatnorthernwhitewater for allowing us to teach on your beautiful waterways.
