Some local history: Hurricane Carla struck the Texas coast September 11, 1961 as a Category 5 hurricane.
The intense storm spawned an F4 twister in Galveston, Texas, damaging over 200 buildings (destroying 60 of them), killed 8 people and injured 55 others. This tornado was the most powerful one a hurricane has ever caused.
I've heard about this storm, but never really knew about the havoc it wrought until I came across these snaps in a Galveston shop. It truly looks like an absolute nightmare. Pictures sometimes speak louder than words. #localhistory#vintagephotography#antiquephotography
I never posted from this shoot! I honestly never NEVER thought I would like photographing cars.. or anything other than nature or people really! But let me tell you I loved every minute of it 😍 I actually used this photo for @srclancelot for Christmas. Since he has 0 decorations in his room which bothers me haha. Anyways anyone want to do a car or motorcycle photoshoot let me know because I want to do it again!! 75$ for 30min!
James Harvey Lunsford in 1878. He was 27 in this photo. When he was 8 months old his father was killed and his mother disappeared (on paper.) He was taken in by his moms sister and husband, the Justice’s. Through his life he moved from Indiana to Kansas to Washington and finally to Idaho. He had 8 children, one of them being my great great grandfather who’s middle name was “Justice.”
