[ clexa x 3.03 ]
— when clarke bowed to lexa and the ambassadors she got down on one knee, she’s bowing to lexa politically but not on a personal level. clarke’s not ready to give any more than wanheda to lexa and she knows that.
lexa on the other hand goes down on both knees in private, no one is watching. lexa doesn’t have to do this but she chose to. she bows to clarke as heda and lexa. this is to show her respect for clarke, and loyalty. but also that she cares deeply about her. going down on both knees she shows that she won’t betray clarke again on a personal level; “treat your needs as my own” and the commander won’t betray her; “your people as my people.” she betrayed clarke with the responsibility of her people, but now clarke’s people are her people. she doesn’t have to hurt clarke again. lexa bows to her as her equal; “same as me” it’s a mutual respect. lexa is way above clarke as heda but not now, she shows her that she thinks of them as equals. clarke understands and sees the meaning behind the words, her face a bit stunned and she offers a hand to lexa. after all, they were born for this, and they’re in this together now.
+ lexa’s emotions in the “same as me” panel are truly moving, she didn’t ask for this, same as clarke. she’s just another teenager caught in the storm.
