Practice day 18- I may never know why Shostakovich decided to give the 2cd violinist the coolest part in the whole string quartet, but I’m quite glad to have this creepy, haunting solo...
Back at it again with the late night practicing - i really should stop 😕😕
I'm doing some work on that one ricochet/saltando section in the sibelius without the ricochet/saltando. While it is true that some of these notes go by fast, bad intonation can really ruin the whole thing. It's best to just reduce the original bowings and articulations into whole bows to really listen to how you are placing your fingers. I'm like seriously struggling to get that one measure with the C-A-E flat-F because it forces you to hyperextend your first and third fingers, unless you're Perlman. Really sibelius??
Anyone got any tips for that one measure?

@chloetrevor_violin: Day 192 of #100daysofpractice!
What is a section of a piece that you've always struggled with? This harmonic section in Tzigane has been a struggle for me over the years but hard work has paid off and it gets a little better every time I work on the piece again!
