Do you spend your time in class shopping online, when you should be listening to the prof? If so continue to read below:
Honey is a web browser add on, using AI to scan the best coupon codes and apply them to online purchases, at the point of purchase. Link in bio today!
For consumers the benefit is obvious 😊 The app provides the theoretically best price for the purchase in question, and mitigates the tremendous opportunity cost associated with searching out deals. Consumers all have a transparent view, which is not always offered in the shopping world, to see what the full price is relative to the paid value after discounts. It gives people a sense of what the “true savings” are for the purchase.
For businesses the story isn’t so good ☹ This emphasizes price as a key selling point, forcing companies to focus on maintaining a low-cost structure and increasing scale. Trends such as above will cause consolidation and vertical integration, leading to more monopolized markets.
This also reduces the real “brand value” of promotions as people are not seeing the aesthetics of the logo, colors, infographic, creating that “visual imprint” within their minds for future purchases.
If adopted on a mass scale, I would argue that this could lead to cashflow issues. If coupons and promotions applied to deal are not from the original producer of the product (rather a third-party manufacturer, or associated party) this will cause an overall lag for companies to see the value from the transaction, if companies need to wait for reimbursement from a third party to obtain the discounted value. This will also increase probability that promotions are utilized, increasing expenses as a result of promotional efforts.

The wait is almost over
With the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus expected to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress at the end of February, we've got a pretty good idea of what to expect already – but leaks about these handsets' specs continue to drip out on to the web, just in case you want to take all the surprise out of Samsung's official announcement.
The information put forth by South Korea's ETNews confirms some of the rumors we've heard so far while also adding a few new interesting tidbits to the pot. Everything from the specs of the cameras to the shape of the internal circuit board gets a mention in the report.
First up the rear-facing cameras – the single-sensor one on the S9 is said to offer a variable f/1.5 to f/2.4 aperture, with the S9 Plus snapper keeping those same specs but offering two sensors in one camera. That ties up with previous whispers about the camera specs and should mean better low-light performance than ever
The screen sizes also get a mention, with 5.77 inches and 6.22 inches mentioned for the S9 and S9 Plus respectively. We haven't heard those exact numbers before, and may be the result of Samsung managing to make the bezels smaller than ever on the displays on the front of these devices
As for the front-facing cameras, they're reportedly pegged at 8MP, though the S9 version includes an iris scanner whereas the S9 Plus version has a separate module for eye scans – we're not sure why but it's something to look for when the official news arrives
If you haven’t got an email by YouTube already or read their latest news: YouTube updated their YouTube Partner Program what effects everyone with an own youtube channel or copyright holders that derive substantial revenue from other people using their copyrights - like music - in fan-uploaded YouTube videos! 1) From now your videos won’t get monetized before you reached a minimum of 1.000 subscribers and 4.000 hours of playback time in the last 12 months. If you haven’t reached this requirements so far YouTube mostly likely sent you an email already to resign your contract until February 20th, 2018. But as soon as you reach the requirements you will be able to join the program again. 2) The changes will also effect copyright holders that derive substantial revenue from other people using their copyrights in fan-uploaded YouTube videos. YouTube will no longer serve ads on (copyright) claimed user-generated content (UGC) until it has been manually reviewed and confirmed as suitable for advertising by YouTube’s staff. And there is nothing copyright owners can do to speed up this process. This means, if your income relies on fan-uploaded content only, these changes might have an impact on your numbers. Solution: Adjust your YouTube strategy!
