Being ‘in the moment’
Mindfulness improves children’s wellbeing by increasing self awareness and self compassion, reducing stress and anxiety and bringing about greater calmness 😌💛 It’s simple to do - you just have to pay attention to what’s happening right here and now, without judgement. Small children are naturally mindful but they start to lose this skill surprisingly early. Practising being consciously mindful from an early age helps children to hang on to this precious skill as they grow up.
Mindful eating is a great way to practise consciously being in the moment. To give this a go:
Get a pack of chocolate buttons and scrunch the wrapping 🍫 Describe what you hear👂 Put one in the palm of your hand and describe what you can see 👀smell 👃 and feel 🖐 Put it in your mouth and move it around with your tongue, but don’t eat it yet! Describe how it tastes and what happens to it on your tongue 👅 Can you feel your mouth watering? Chew the chocolate button slowly and finally swallow it 😋

For this morning’s meditation during a long weekend in Palm Springs, using the sounds of the pool waterfall as the anchor for attention.
If you ever feel like your meditation spot is “too noisy to meditate,” play with turning your session into a listening meditation. Just noticing that you’re hearing and letting sounds (listening for “sound” rather than “noise”) roll through, noticing how they shift and change as they do ☀️
Feeling all content and happy after a lovely Sunday spent with my 3 favourites in the sunshine. The Loving Listening Space
These are the 2nd addition to my Listening Place. Buddha and GuanShiYin 观世音 the Goddess of Compassion her name means The One Who Perceives the Sounds of the World.
The stillness and compassionate intent of these little statues are qualities I wish to have towards myself. I find it easier to be compassionate towards others than myself so this year my intent is to allow myself to have self-compassion by listening to my heart.

When I tell people I used to be a size 10 and 25 lbs bigger even BEFORE I had kids, they don’t believe me. Most people think I’m a naturally thin person. Swipe left to see my recent before and after pics which actually look very similar to the ones I took 13 years ago. I usually gain about 50 lbs when I’m pregnant so losing the weight takes some work. .
