When you go out into the woods, and you look at trees, you see all these different trees. My mom sent me this photo yesterday because it popped up on her time line, 3 years ago I was in the airport headed to Los Angeles prepping for New York Fashion week! I was trying so hard to find my place in life but didn’t know who I was.
I absolutely loved going to fashion week and doing hair❤️ it was such an amazing experience I wouldn’t trade for anything and I worked my butt off to get there!
Sometimes when you lose sight of where you are, it helps to take a step back and see how far you have come!
Everything I have gone through has shaped me to be the person that I am today, and I can tell you, I am so damn proud of myself!

#tbt to this amazing view of the Pacific, and to clean, nourishing foods I enjoyed on my health & education retreat at Sanoviv Medical Institute back in October. In the 5 days I spent at Sanoviv, I learned for the first time what fully detoxing my body really feels like. I learned what it feels like to have almost all of the toxins removed from my system, which includes toxins in food but also toxins from emotions and negative energy. While I can’t fully recreate the Sanoviv Experience here in cold, wintry Arkansas (the ocean is too far!), I am planning to begin a 5-day winter detox program this weekend to focus on my body and my health as much as I can while still being fully engaged in my life. I’ve learned that it’s crucial to give our bodies regular detox periods and my intention going forward is to do one with each new season. I’ll be posting updates here on my Instagram page and stories as I share my winter detox journey ❤️

Today is officially our coldest day of the season. Begs the question, when was the coldest you have ever been? For me, it was when my husband and I went mountain biking in Montana. We started our adventure with sunny conditions, but the skies quickly changed and we found ourselves petaling in a freezing hail storm. It was actually April fools day, guess we know who the fools were that day. 🚴🏼♀️ Seriously thought my toes would never recover! Tell me, when was the coldest you have ever been? I've been reflecting on my use of social media this past week... in the sense that I haven't been posting much and not because I'm unmotivated & depressed which is usually the case, but because I'm busy GETTING SHIT DONE! Of course I knew social media was a distraction, but it really is amazing how much more focused I am when I'm not taking time to take pics and write these captions and then respond to comments (and check likes because, duh, I'm human and desire approval like everyone else!). I've thrown myself back into SGN full force, partly because I am way behind due to the trauma & missed time looking for my lost pup, and partly because I'm sick of feeling sorry for myself and keeping busy keeps my mind off of how much I miss him. I've been cooking for @longtablegrocery, recipe testing, tackling inventory, getting organized for taxes, setting targets, planning & executing marketing strategies and meeting with collaborators (planning for the @discoverwellnessbc Health Fair kicks off today!). So yes, I'm still here, I'm okay. Some days are better than others, but I'm channeling my energy into positive pursuits and exercise - yay! Hope you all are having a lovely and productive week 😙

I have a story.... 📖 -
There once was a young girl who thought she was living the life. She partied every night. She drank to oblivion. Turned to drugs when the alcohol wasn’t enough. Then turning to men to fill her soul. But hey she was sexy wore expensive clothes and spent all her money on more bullshit. -
But like a bucket with a hole in it that hole in her soul remained empty. The emptiness consumed her. Leading to more lessons, leading to working for people who didn’t respect her. Getting paid less than her worth. Leading to dropping out of college. Leading to abuse. Leading to many nights blacked out waking up not knowing where she was. Leading to abusing her body and not feeding it, starving it. Trying to remain in control of a life that didn’t have any.-
And still she pursued more to fill this hole. -
One day she ‘woke’ up. But yet she had all these habits. She had all these ‘friends’. So she began to run. Until one day a friend said, “Remember wherever you go there you are.” -
She began to see her life from an outside perspective. She changed her perspective not her life. She became a hero and let go of the victim. -
This shift led to finding her soul mate. Her soul life and purpose. Her value and worth. -

I love mornings when I wake up and my mood is super amazing and my energy and vibes are on like 100% pure inner happiness #IWokeUpLikeThis ✌🏽😉 So this morning I wanted to give you all 4 tips on getting focused and clearing out negative energies and vibes from past hurts and grievance so that you can allow more Gratitude to flow in ➰➿➰ Mainly because yesterday I received a TOOONNN of personal messages regarding my FB LIVE #GratitudeChallenge assignment.
By the way, thank you all for watching & supporting my Lives! 💗💋 So let’s jump into the tips:
1. Learn to trust that every experience, no matter how painful has a meaning/purpose and that when YOU are ready to let it go, the pain will pass. BUT you must learn to see meaning and purpose in order to process, grow and heal.
2. Feel EVERY emotion you’re re having in an experience or situation and do not minimize your emotions. They’re VERY real and once you acknowledge how you feel/felt, (hurt/betrayed/slighted/broken/left behind/etc..) you’ll be able to accept that past situation and move on from the pain. Then shift the perspective of pain and look at the same situation from a perspective of LOVE. 🔄
3. Start doing actions and thinking positive thoughts to reclaim your personal power, or you’ll remain a victim of you past hurts forever. If you want to let go and create a change in your patters, your actions, your thoughts, then set boundaries and be open to new, better, different. Once you start to a person or situation for what it is or was (a lesson for a particular season) it will start to loose it’s power over you and you will regain your power back!
4. Lastly, always speak your truth and tell others how you feel. When I started telling my story of depression & suicide attempts to family, friends and publically – I snatched back the power and took control over how I would & could feel. I recognized how I felt, how I grew and how I learned from each past hurt and painful situation.

i love cheese. i love bread. and i love this uncured italian salame from @truestoryfoods (organic + natural meats & they raise their animals right) 🧀👅 💯 i like to make homemade snacks in between meals when i’m slightly hungry, but not so hungry that i want a whole meal. quick, satisfying, and using all REAL FOOD. this is my version of fast food 😎✌🏼
all you need is some sourdough or your choice of bread (try local or freshly baked if you want), ghee or butter, your choice of cheese (used shredded blend), and @truestoryfoods uncured dry italian salame! i don’t always eat/crave/want salame... but when i do.. i listen to that.. and then i make a lil something like dis: toast bread, spread butter or ghee onto slice, sprinkle a good amount of cheese on, place salame on + then broil in oven for a few minutes - checking often to avoid burning. get it nice and crispy and then ENJOY 😍 eating intuitively + being able to listen to your body is a beautiful thing. food freedom is a beautiful thing. real + delicious af food is a beautiful thing. being satisfied is a beautiful thing. @truestoryfoods has a ton of great products to choose from and is a brand i trust and love to support. ps - there is always more to the story on my story + my blog, linked in bio #AsIAwaken#sponsored

can you say snow day brunch? ☃️ the snow is falling and i am oh so cozy in my apartment with the perfect mood set, so ready to enjoy this! i will admit, snow or no snow, i’ve been making this all week — it’s my current favorite and i enjoy it oh so much 💯 so damn good.
bacon, egg, cheese, on a toasted plain bagel. currently baking more bacon in the oven to have on hand for these babies.
plus my homemade green juice! 🌱 so excited to share this staple, because it’s so easy, hydrating, nutrient dense, and a great way to start off your day. i also just love the taste, especially when i’m getting bored of water. sometimes i drink this earlier with my coffee, and sometimes with breakfast. either way, i freaking love it! here’s how: in a blender mix a superfood greens blend of your choice (think: spirulina, wheatgrass, moringa, other fruit/vegetable mixes, herbs & antioxidants blend) + @amyandbriancoconutwater coconut water 💧 blend, pour into a glass mason jar over ice, and sip! i love using coconut water as my base, because of it’s amazing benefits + taste. the only ingredients in @amyandbriancoconutwater is coconut water, how it should be! no added sugars (coconut has its own natural sugar) and no preservatives. this stuff is the real deal and makes me 🤸🏼♂️🤸🏼♂️🤸🏼♂️ every morning. check it + make this! okay now back to being cozy AF i go ✌🏼😎 ps - there is always more to the story on my story + my blog, linked in bio! #AsIAwaken#sponsored
This bountiful salad was inspired by our trip to @earthboundfarm with @thefeedfeed 🌱while we didn’t have incredible herbs like cilantro flowers and nasturtium, we loaded this salad up with mint, cilantro, @justdatesyrup pickled jalapenos, and @justdatesyrup roasted kumquats. sometimes all ya need is a good olé bagel + cream cheese 🤗 something i’m really learning to realize on this intuitive eating journey is that we do far more damage to our -overall health- when we eat things we don’t really want, feel guilt, feed our minds negative thoughts about food, have disordered eating, have a bad relationship w/ food, etc, than we would ever do to our health by simply eating say a bagel every single day for breakfast. so maybe there aren’t any vegetables here, maybe not “enough” protein for a full meal, or “too many carbs” etc etc etc. so yeah maybe it’s not as “balanced” as a meal could be - but guess what? if you’re satisfied (versus not) after eating the bagel because it’s what you wanted, that is doing more overall good things to your health than the simple nutrients from a vegetable could ever do. think mental health, even digestive health.. our mind & body is VERY connected (literally and figuratively) therefore when we think certain thoughts, this can cause physical symptoms. so yes, if you’re eating something while simultaneously telling yourself how bad it is for you, you might start to feel some stomach discomfort, digestion issues, etc. understood?
our bodies know what we need. they are very smart. if we want a bagel in the morning and we eat the bagel, our bodies will figure out what nutrients they still need & will lead you into the right direction for the rest of your meals that day.
from a lot of personal experience, when i don’t eat what i actually want - for example “wants bagel, eats vegetable scramble” this only ever leads me to continuous eating (past fullness), because i am trying to feel “satisfied.” full and satisfied are two very different things. i can be full, yet not satisfied & continue eating only to feel more dis-satisfied (along w/ a lot of other negative emotions). way too full, way unhappy, lots of guilt = way worse for my overall health.
everyone’s body is different. therefore no one intuitive eating journey looks the same. all we have to do is start listening + trusting. it’s a lot of letting go. a lot of embracing new patterns, new thoughts, & maybe even some NEW FOODS 😎🤸🏼♂️ #AsIAwaken
I took this picture exactly 2 years ago (thanks FB memories). I took this picture of my grandma as she made me a delicious home cooked meal in India right before my flight to come back to America. I knew it could possibly be the last time I would hug her, hold her — eat the food she made with so much love. But I still hoped. I hoped I was wrong, but I wasn’t. I guess I’m sharing this because we really never know when the last time we are going to see someone is. It’s so heartbreaking & overwhelming to be aware of that truth — but it also puts EVERYTHING into perspective. There’s never any time to waste with someone you love. You’ll never know when it could be the last time they’re physically in your world.
Feeling A LOT better today but breakfast didn’t sound good to me, so I just sipped on my matcha latte all morning and took it real slow😌
Just whipped up this veggie bowl full of sautéed red cabbage (most underrated vegetable), avocado, Japanese sweet potato, broccoli, raw walnuts, and a dollop of @thehummuspeople hummus. Random, but oh so satisfying!
