I really wanted to post a picture of myself gym bound, ready to workout and back on my regular eating schedule. Instead, here is a picture of the last time I felt 100% because I am currently contagious, have minimal appetite and will probably steer clear of the gym yet another night to allow my body to fully fight off this pesky bug that's going around. 😝
Then, I began thinking about how often we correlate things like physical activity and eating habits alone to being healthy. We give diet and exercise all of the priority when we seek making changes and too often neglect other other equally important factors. Ask yourself these questions: Are you constantly feeling anxious or do you keep stress at bay? Do you make it a point to get adequate rest or do you cut corners from your sleep? Do you take time for yourself throughout your week or does it take a back seat to other things you have going on? Are you always working or do you take time off? Are you staying hydrated? Are you cultivating your relationships & spending time with those who matter most? Do you have a positive self image or are you constantly bringing yourself down?
If a healthier version of yourself is truly something you are after in 2018, remember that health is all encompassing-physical is just part of the equation. You can embody the words "team no days off" and have a "perfect" eating plan, but neglecting these other variables can still leave you far from achieving overall well-being. I have yet to master this skill myself but it is something that I am consciously working on.
I now leave you with that minor word vomit, & wish you all a great weekend: one that caters to your mental, spiritual, and emotional health as well as your physical. And of course,that you dodge that bullet of a virus if you haven't already fallen victim. 🙃
