Me in front of ideal Inca’s wall🤩 #peru#Cusco#allroadsleadtocusco

2 Chefs, 1 Van
It was my last day in Cusco and I couldn't stop thinking about the incredible view of the mountains and open green fields that we witnessed on the ride back from Santa Maria the day before. It was about 4PM and I wanted to get one last view of the mountains before sunset, so I took a taxi to a street called Pavitos and found a van that could take me to Urubamba. There was only one seat open all the way in the back of the van. I took off my backpack and sat between a young woman who was having a fairly loud phone convo and an Andean woman staring out the window while chewing on coca leaves. Right after the woman was done talking on the phone, she turned to me to express her relive for not getting in the car with another crazy driver and began telling me stories of her scary bus ride to Ollantaytambo the day before.
The young guy sitting next to her was also enjoying her stories, but didn't speak very much. I realized that this wouldn't be a quit car ride, once she started sharing about her daughter and ex husband, I didn't share much myself, but I was happy to listen to her. I'm not exactly sure how we transitioned from talking about her daughters catholic school to cooking fresh Trucha (Trout) from the river, but I'm not one to shy away from talking about food. It turns out that she was a local chef and so was her French boyfriend who lived in Ollantaytambo. Peruvian food was her specialty, but she had dreams of becoming an international chef and opening up a restaurant in France with her boyfriend.
To my surprise, the young guy sitting next to her decided to join the convo and share that he was also a Peruvian chef working for a chain of restaurants that had recently opened up in Peru. Before I could blink, the 2 chefs were having a passionate conversation about different popular Peruvian dishes such as, Patarashca and Juane, and debating about the best places to eat the freshest most delicious fish dishes in the Country. I looked to my right and the andean woman was asleep with her head against the window and an open bag of coca leaves sitting on her lap, I looked out the window and that is all I did until I arrived to my destination.
Facebook hit me with this gem. 2009ish? #usdrift series ender (I think) at #zmaxdragway in the black #r32 when it was a lil gangly wearing its #r324r suit. Me, my friends and this lil bucket won that series!!!! I miss comps sometimes, but then I realize that regular events are almost as much fun, sometimes more annnnd I don't have to feel like I'm doing the series I run in dirty when I wanna hop in my car and do some street stuff. #1jzgte#1jzgtevvtiswap oh yea... and it's odd. Some folks go on and on about not having a "shop" to back them as if me working somewhere is why I have neat cars. This car was built in Safeway parking lots, in front of my APARTMENT on a dolly and in the street in front of #mamotorsports when it needed aluminum or something welded. It never had the luxury of a lift and in four years of comp from Maine to Florida, it only saw a trailer for half of one season. 🤔 #workmeister#workwheelsjapan#cusco#sparco
