It is my greatest pleasure to introduce to you to our newest family member, our baby boy Tanka. Tanka 短歌 (pronounced tahng-kuh or like a “Tonka” truck) was named in honor of our late beloved Haiku. A tanka, similar to a haiku, is a type of Japanese poem. The first 3 lines of a tanka has the same structure as a haiku (5-7-5) with two additional lines of 7 syllables each. He is 8 weeks and 3 days old, weighing in full bellied at 4lbs 8oz. We are beyond excited to welcome him to the family pack and are dedicated to ensure he has a long, wonderful, healthy and loved life ahead of him. I can’t wait to share his journey growing up with all of you.
•••••••••• I have been preparing for Tanka’s arrival since he was just 2 weeks old and he has already brought me so much joy and has been a positive distraction from my grief. He is not a replacement, no dog/loved one can ever be replaced. He is a new light and new love for our family, with a personality of his own we can’t wait to watch him discover. It is my hope that he will be best friends with all his siblings, in particular Kaiya, so she has someone closer in age to that she can play with and grow up and old together, just like her older siblings have. Kaiya and Tanka already enjoy running around together, which makes me so happy! All the other dogs are so curious about him and he is equally inquisitive. We are slowly working to build a trusting relationship. I’ll share some clips on my Instagram story if you want to see him interact with his new siblings. Tanka is a very sweet boy who enjoys giving kisses, tackling my legs when I walk, following all the big dogs around, he is a quiet and a good natured pup. I love him already!
