My print has arrived!!! Not many pictures make it to my wall, for that it needs to be a high quality shot of something special. The rarest cat species in the world, the Iberian Lynx, definitely qualifies as such and so I decided to bring this special photo to life in print and if I spend the money it's gotta be high quality! Thanks to the guys at @zoomwork I now have a super vibrant acrylic glass print (90x60cm) over my workplace 😍 to remind me of my jobs highlights during those long hours of office work, that even wildlife biologist and photographers have 😉.
Definitely recommend you to print your favourite shots, don't let them fade into oblivion on your harddrive. I think even in our digital time, that a print is still the THE Medium for photographs. If you currently have anything that needs printing you might want to use a little discount I can get you, just use the code "fabian20" and have it printed @zoomwork to get 20% off. 😊 And if you don't have a favourite shot yourself feel free to drop me a pm if you'd like to have any of my pictures printed.
~Fiery throated hummingbird~
This is one of the most beautiful hummingbirds I have ever seen! It is an endemic species from the highlands of #costarica and parts of Panama. The name giving fiery throat is not visible in this photo, because #hummingbirds are extremely colourful, but only when the light hits them right! Their feathers are iridescent and don't actually display shiny colours all the time, which makes it easy to overlook these little birds, when they look quite blend resting among leaves of the canopy. However, most of their day is about foraging and getting enough energy to sustain this extremely fast metabolism of theirs.
~Manapany Day Gecko~
Let's start the year off like we ended the last one...with a cute baby animal for the "awwwwww factor" 😉. What you see here on my finger is a hatchling of the extremely rare and endangered #phelsumainexpectata. It can only be found in an absolutely tiny area of the southern part of the isolated #reunionisland . Encountering such rare animals is always thrilling and finding an intact and reproducing population was one of my wildlife highlights in 2017! I was on assignment for @terrax, 😊 so you'll soon be able to come and explore the island with me and learn about how this tiny creature ended up on the foothills of one of the world's most active volcanoes in the middle of the Indian ocean, but also which threats they face that might drive them to #extinction... #terrax#fieldherping#herpetology#babyanimals#reptiles#gecko@natgeodeutschland@rainforestalliance@reptilerooms

Your favourites of 2017!!! Thank you so much for your support, likes and comments. I really appreciate all the feedback I got, keep it coming. Although no frog or snake made it into my top 9 🤔, which are my favourite groups of animals, at least a reptile is on 1. place and got the most responses of any post I ever made! 2017 was a fantastic year for me, I got to explore many new corners of this beautiful planet and experienced some amazing wildlife encounters 😍 I hope you will keep on following my adventures and that I'll be able to show you many more amazing species in 2018!
